“MAN KI BAAT CHAI KAY SAATH”: REJUVENATING PROGRAM ORGANIZED BY PSYCHOLOGICAL CELL

The Psychological and Counselling Cell of the Government College of Education, Jammu organized an enlightening Program on Mental Health Awareness to promote emotional well-being, stress management and positive coping mechanisms among teaching and non-teaching members of the college.

The event began with a welcome address by Dr Ambica Sharma, HoD, Psychological and Counselling Cell, who highlighted the significance of understanding mental health as an integral part of overall well-being. The resource person for the session, H S Chouhan, Associate Professor (Rtd) an expert in psychology and counseling, delivered an interactive talk focusing on topics such as anxiety, depression, emotional balance and the importance of seeking help without stigma.

Dr. Jyoti Parihar, Principal, GCOE Jammu, in her address, emphasized that mental health is as vital as physical health and must be nurtured through self-awareness, empathy and open communication. She noted that educational institutions play a crucial role in providing a supportive environment where students feel safe to express their emotions and seek guidance. Dr. Parihar encouraged the Psychological and Counselling Cell to continue conducting such programs regularly to foster a culture of psychological wellness on campus.

The program included engaging discussions, mindfulness activities and awareness-building interactions that motivated participants to adopt healthy mental habits and maintain emotional balance in their academic and personal lives.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Prof Balwan Singh, expressing gratitude to the Principal, resource person, faculty members, and students for their enthusiastic participation. All the teaching and non- teaching staff members attended the program.
