At 27, entrepreneur Deb Kanta Ghosh is bringing together his experience in EdTech, team management and entrepreneurship as he works towards building Pragal Bharat, an emerging education and skill-development venture focused on technology and career readiness. At a time when technology is reshaping education and employment, 27-year-old entrepreneur Deb Kanta Ghosh is working towards building Pragal Bharat, an emerging education and skill-development venture that he envisions as a platform focused on practical skills, technology learning and career readiness. With a background in Computer Science and Engineering, Ghosh entered the professional world with an interest in technology and education. His professional journey has included experience associated with the EdTech sector and companies such as BYJU’S, Extramarks and Be10x, providing him exposure to the expectations and aspirations of students, parents and young professionals. According to Ghosh, his experiences in the education sector contributed to his understanding of a challenge increasingly faced by young people: the transition from academic education to a rapidly changing professional environment. “Students today need more than theoretical knowledge. They need practical exposure, adaptability, communication skills and an understanding of how technology connects with real-world opportunities,” he said. Learning Leadership Through Operations Alongside his entrepreneurial efforts, Ghosh currently manages a team of more than 10 employees and is involved in an operational ecosystem serving more than 350 PG residents. According to him, these responsibilities have provided practical exposure to team coordination, operations, service management, problem-solving and accountability. “Leadership starts when people begin depending on you. Whether you are managing a team, serving hundreds of residents or building a company, you have to take responsibility for your decisions and solve problems every day,” Ghosh said. For Ghosh, the experience of managing people and handling day-to-day operational responsibilities has become an important part of his broader entrepreneurial journey. Building Pragal Bharat Ghosh is now seeking to bring his professional and operational experiences together through Pragal Bharat. The venture is being developed around areas of interest including Artificial Intelligence, coding, robotics, space technology, digital skills and career development. Its broader objective, according to Ghosh, is to explore learning initiatives that can help students and young professionals develop practical and technology-oriented capabilities. The idea is based on a changing employment landscape. Artificial intelligence, automation and digital tools are increasingly influencing industries and professional roles. As technology continues to evolve, Ghosh believes young people will need to develop adaptability alongside academic knowledge. Through Pragal Bharat, he aims to explore ways of connecting learning with practical skills and future career opportunities. From Education to Career Readiness One of the central themes behind Ghosh’s vision is the connection between education and employability. His experience in EdTech exposed him to the expectations of students and parents, while his current operational responsibilities have provided another perspective on the experiences of young people living independently and preparing for professional opportunities. These experiences, he says, have influenced his belief that learning should extend beyond theoretical knowledge. “Students should have opportunities to understand technology, experiment with practical skills and explore how their learning can connect with future career pathways,” he said. Pragal Bharat is currently being developed around this broader approach. A Venture Still in Its Building Phase Ghosh acknowledges that the entrepreneurial journey is still at an early stage. Building an organisation involves uncertainty, operational challenges and decisions that often need to be made without complete information. For young entrepreneurs, balancing current responsibilities while developing a long-term venture can also present its own challenges. Ghosh says his focus is on building systems and developing the venture gradually rather than concentrating only on recognition. “I do not want to build Pragal Bharat simply to say that I founded a company. The objective is to build an organisation that creates real value, develops strong systems and, over time, reaches a larger number of young people,” he said. Looking Ahead Ghosh’s long-term vision is to develop Pragal Bharat into a youth-focused platform bringing together technology learning, practical skills and career development. He believes the larger opportunity lies in encouraging young Indians to engage more actively with emerging technologies and develop capabilities relevant to an evolving economy. At present, however, Ghosh describes his journey as a work in progress. He continues to balance team management and operational responsibilities while working towards developing Pragal Bharat and its future initiatives. From his professional exposure to the EdTech sector to his experience managing a team and an operational ecosystem involving more than 350 residents, Ghosh’s journey reflects his effort to bring together experience, responsibility and entrepreneurship. At 27, he is focused not on presenting the journey as a finished success story, but on what he and his venture may build in the years ahead.
