Ramdayal Barodiya: A Voice for Social Harmony, Education, Environment and Public Welfare

By Mahesh Ved
Former President, Students’ Union Bandikui (Rajasthan)

Ramdayal Barodiya, a prominent social worker from Jaipur and State Vice-President of the SC Cell, Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee, has established his identity through his continued commitment to social service, public welfare, social harmony and awareness of important issues affecting society. His recognition with the prestigious “Rajiv Gandhi Gaurav Award” at the International Harmony Ceremony in New Delhi on 23 August is a significant acknowledgement of his contribution to social service.

For Ramdayal Barodiya, social service is not limited to helping individuals in times of need. It also means creating awareness and encouraging people to become active participants in building a better society. His social outlook places particular importance on education, environmental protection, equality, social justice, public health, cleanliness, youth empowerment, and awareness of citizens’ rights and responsibilities.

Education as a Tool for Social Change

Education remains one of the most powerful instruments for transforming society. Awareness about education, especially among children and young people from disadvantaged sections, can open the doors to opportunity and self-reliance. Barodiya’s social vision gives importance to encouraging families and communities to understand the value of education and to creating an environment in which every child gets an opportunity to learn and progress.

He believes that an educated and aware society is better equipped to understand social problems, challenge discrimination and participate meaningfully in the development of the nation. Educational awareness can also help young people develop confidence, skills and a stronger sense of social responsibility.

Concern for the Environment

Environmental protection is another important social responsibility in the modern era. Issues such as pollution, deforestation, water conservation, waste management and climate change require collective awareness and participation.

Through his broader vision of public welfare, Barodiya emphasises the importance of making citizens conscious of their responsibility towards nature. Planting trees, conserving water, maintaining cleanliness, reducing waste and protecting natural resources are simple but meaningful steps through which communities can contribute to a healthier environment.

Social Equality and Justice

Social harmony cannot be achieved without equality and mutual respect. Barodiya’s public engagement reflects the importance of creating awareness about social equality, dignity, constitutional values and justice. A progressive society must ensure that people are respected irrespective of their social or economic background.

He advocates a social environment in which people work together beyond divisions and contribute to the welfare of the wider community. The values of equality, fraternity and peaceful coexistence are essential for strengthening democracy and national unity.

Youth Empowerment and Social Awareness

Young people are an important force for social transformation. Providing them with education, opportunities, awareness and positive direction can help them become responsible citizens. Awareness among youth about social issues, environmental responsibility, civic duties and the importance of education can create long-term positive change.

Barodiya’s recognition therefore carries a message that social leadership is not simply about holding a position; it is about connecting with people and encouraging them to participate in constructive social activities.

A Recognition with a Larger Message

The Rajiv Gandhi Gaurav Award is being presented to Ramdayal Barodiya for his contribution to social service, public welfare and social harmony. The International Harmony Ceremony will bring together distinguished personalities from different fields, with around 85 selected personalities from various states expected to receive recognition.

The presence of national flags from 25 countries and sessions dedicated to global harmony, cultural cooperation and human values will add an international dimension to the event.

Ramdayal Barodiya’s recognition can therefore be viewed not merely as a personal honour but as an encouragement for continued work towards education, environmental awareness, social equality, public welfare, youth empowerment and communal harmony.

His journey conveys a simple but powerful message: meaningful social change begins with awareness, grows through collective participation and becomes sustainable when society works together with compassion, equality and responsibility.
