Born on 11 October 1976 in Telinipara, Bhadreshwar in West Bengal’s Hooghly district, Dr. Sujeet Kumar Shaw’s life stands as a powerful example of resilience, determination, and commitment to education. His journey began with immense hardship when a tragic childhood accident led to the loss of his right hand and the vision in his right eye. Despite these life‑altering challenges, he refused to surrender to circumstances.
Coming from modest economic conditions, Dr. Shaw often studied under streetlights and worked tirelessly to pursue his education. Through dedication and discipline, he completed his B.A. in History (Honours), followed by an M.A. in History with First Class distinction and a B.Ed. degree, also with First Class. His academic achievements reflected his belief that determination can overcome even the toughest barriers.
For nearly 17 years, Dr. Shaw has served in the West Bengal education system. From 2009 to 2021, he taught at Jamuria Hindi High School (H.S.) in Asansol. Since March 2021, he has been working as an Assistant Teacher (History) at Gondalpara Sastri Hindi High School (H.S.) in Chandannagar, Hooghly. Among students he is affectionately known as “Sujeet Master,” admired not only for his teaching but also for the values of discipline, integrity, and perseverance he shares.
Beyond the classroom, he regularly provides free academic guidance to underprivileged students and promotes environmental awareness through initiatives like “Let’s Make Our Earth Green.” During the COVID‑19 pandemic, he also donated a day’s salary to relief efforts.
Honoured with the National Teachers Award (2024, 2025), Ashoka Samman (2025), and Saraswati Vidyabhushan Gaurav Samman (2026), Dr. Shaw’s life continues to inspire many.
