In the field of pharmaceutical education and research, building a meaningful career takes years of dedication, continuous learning and a willingness to explore new possibilities. Dr. Badri Nagarani, an Associate Professor at SriKrupa Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, has spent more than a decade pursuing these goals through teaching, research, academic writing and mentoring students.

With an academic background in pharmacy and a PhD from GITAM University, Visakhapatnam (2026), Dr. Nagarani has developed a professional journey that reflects her interest in pharmaceutical formulations, drug delivery systems and the potential of herbal-based medicines.

Her Association with SriKrupa Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences

Dr. Nagarani is associated with SriKrupa Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, where she serves as an Associate Professor. With nearly 12 years of teaching experience, she has contributed to pharmaceutical education through teaching, research and student mentorship. Her association with the institution has also provided a platform for guiding aspiring pharmacy professionals.

Her academic journey began with a Bachelor of Pharmacy, which she completed between 2008 and 2012, followed by a Master of Pharmacy from Osmania University between 2012 and 2014. She secured 77 per cent in B.Pharmacy and 83 per cent in M.Pharmacy. She also received a gold medal for being the best student in her M.Pharmacy programme, an achievement that marked an important milestone in her academic career.

Research with a Focus on Practical Applications

A significant part of Dr. Nagarani’s professional work has been dedicated to pharmaceutical research and formulation development. Her research interests cover several areas, including osmotic drug delivery systems, mucoadhesive formulations, solid lipid nanoparticles, sustained-release preparations and fast-dissolving films.

Her work also explores the use of natural ingredients in pharmaceutical and healthcare applications. Among her research projects are the extraction, isolation and formulation development of Mangiferin, a naturally occurring phytopharmaceutical compound, herbal antidiabetic chocolate, herbal formulations for menstrual pain relief and herbal lipstick.

Over the years, she has also contributed to research involving drug delivery mechanisms and formulation evaluation, areas that remain important to pharmaceutical development.

Patents, Publications and Academic Writing

Dr. Nagarani’s contributions extend beyond laboratory research. Her academic profile includes two granted patents, one relating to an antidiabetic composition and another concerning a glass container for medical fluid collection. Her profile also lists several published patent applications involving nanoparticle drug delivery, Mangiferin solid dispersion and tablet formulation.

Academic writing is another important part of her career. She has authored and co-authored multiple pharmaceutical textbooks covering subjects such as biopharmaceutics, pharmacokinetics, physical pharmaceutics, industrial pharmacy and dispensing pharmacy. Her books have been published through different publishing houses, including Technical Publishers, BlueRose Publishers and Vital International Publishers.

She has also contributed research papers to pharmaceutical and scientific journals, with publications covering herbal medicine, targeted drug delivery, formulation development, Mangiferin extraction and drug delivery technologies. Her work includes book chapters on plant bioactive constituents and nutraceuticals.

Recognition and Commitment to Students

Her research and academic presentations have brought her several recognitions. These include the Young Women Scientist Award received at an international conference in Goa in November 2025, the International Researcher Award in 2021 and the Young Scientist Award in 2022. She has also received multiple awards for oral and poster presentations at national and international academic conferences.

Alongside her research activities, Dr. Nagarani has maintained a strong commitment to teaching and student mentorship. She has guided seven M.Pharmacy students and more than 30 B.Pharmacy students. She has also participated as an evaluator at research conferences and served as a resource person and speaker at an international faculty development programme sponsored by APTI.

Her academic engagements include guest lectures, conference presentations and participation in professional development programmes. She was also invited to speak at an international conference in Vancouver, Canada, in March 2023.

For Dr. Badri Nagarani, a career in pharmaceutical sciences has involved more than academic qualifications or professional recognition. It has also meant contributing to research, sharing knowledge and helping students develop their own capabilities. Through her continued involvement in teaching, publications, research and mentorship, she represents the important role educators and researchers play in strengthening pharmaceutical education and encouraging scientific inquiry.
