Located strategically on the Ramban–Banihal section of NH-44, the bypass includes four viaducts totaling 1,513 meters and three culverts. This infrastructure aims to resolve the frequent traffic jams caused by roadside markets and shops in the area. Initially, the bypass will support 2-lane traffic, with plans to open all 4 lanes within 15 days after completing junction development.
Minister Gadkari highlighted the importance of this project, noting that it will ensure smooth traffic flow, significantly reducing travel time and congestion for tourists and defense vehicles heading to the Kashmir Valley. Besides enhancing regional connectivity, the bypass is expected to strengthen national security logistics and boost tourism in the region.
He further emphasized the project’s broader impact, stating that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, this initiative not only supports economic growth but also elevates Jammu and Kashmir’s appeal as a top tourist destination.
