Ladakh – Officials reported on Tuesday that two Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs) lost their lives in a tragic accident in Ladakh. The army honored these brave individuals for their service to the nation.
The officers, Subedar Santosh Kumar and Naib-Subedar Sunil Kumar, died when a water tank exploded at a military camp in the Nyoma region, about 150 kilometers from Leh. The accident happened on Sunday, and a police investigation is currently underway to find out what caused the explosion.
Lt Gen Suchindra Kumar, the Northern Army chief, paid tribute to the soldiers, recognizing their bravery. In a message shared on social media, he said, “Lt Gen Kumar and all personnel of Dhruva Command honor the ultimate sacrifice of bravehearts Sub Santosh Kumar and Nb Sub Sunil Kumar, who gave their lives in the line of duty in Ladakh.”
The Fire and Fury Corps also expressed their condolences, sharing photos of the two officers and stating, “GOC, Fire and Fury Corps along with all personnel honors Subedar Santosh Kumar and Naib Subedar Sunil Kumar, who made the ultimate sacrifice while on duty in Ladakh on February 16, and extend heartfelt condolences to the grieving families during this time of sorrow.”
The loss of these soldiers serves as a reminder of the dangers faced by those serving in difficult conditions, and the army community is supporting the families during this sad time.
