Udhampur, Jan 11: In a tragic incident, a Traffic Police Special Police Officer (SPO) lost his life after being knocked by a Police Department bus near the Garnai Traffic Naka.
The deceased has been identified as SPO Satvir Singh, son of Uttam Singh, from Majalta. He was on duty managing traffic at the Garnai Traffic Naka point on the National Highway when the accident occurred. The bus, with registration number JK02AG-4763, was traveling from Jammu to Srinagar when it hit him.
Rehambal Police quickly arrived at the scene and transported the injured SPO to District Hospital Udhampur. Unfortunately, doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
The driver of the bus, Head Constable Fazal Hussain, has been detained by the police. An FIR No. 07/2025 has been registered under section 281/125(a) BNS at Police Station Rehambal in connection with the incident.
