Kishtwar, Jammu and Kashmir – Thieves stole about Rs 19.50 lakh from the Jammu and Kashmir Bank branch in the Dachan area of Kishtwar district on Monday. The robbery has left local officials and residents surprised.
The bank branch is usually cut off during the winter months, making it an easier target for criminals. Unidentified individuals broke in and took a large amount of cash before escaping.
Authorities are now working to find the thieves. They are reviewing CCTV footage from the bank to gather clues. An official said, “We are looking at the footage and have started an investigation to catch those responsible for this crime.”
The robbery has raised concerns about the safety of banks in remote areas, especially during winter when access is limited. Local residents are asking for better security to prevent such incidents in the future.
As the investigation continues, officials are encouraging anyone with information about the robbery to come forward and help catch the thieves.
