Sopore Police have arrested four people for gambling and seized money and playing cards from them.
The police received specific information about gambling activities in Tarzoo. A team from Police Station Tarzoo, led by SHO Inspector Sajad Ahmad and supervised by SDPO Sopore Shri Sarfaraz Bashir-JKPS, raided the location. When the police arrived, the gamblers tried to run away but were caught.
The arrested individuals are:
- Shareef ud Din Sheikh, son of Abdul Ahmad Sheikh
- Mohammad Ismail Sheikh, son of Late Abdul Gani Sheikh
- Nasir Ahmad Mir, son of Abdul Rashid Mir
- Nisar Ahmad Sheikh, son of Abdul Aziz Sheikh
All of them are residents of Tarzoo.
The police recovered ₹6000 in stake money and playing cards from their possession.
A case has been registered under the relevant sections of the Gambling Act at Police Station Tarzoo, and an investigation is underway.
The police warn that anyone involved in criminal activities will face strict legal action. They also encourage community members to report any crimes they notice in their area to the local police.
