On Thursday, as the Jammu and Kashmir assembly was still being disrupted by the Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) MLA and brother of Engineer Rashid, Khurshid Ahmad Sheikh, displaying a banner on Article 370 in the House, Bharatiya Janata Party Smriti Irani took aim at the opposition’s INDIA bloc.

“…through the BJP workers, I want to reassure Indian citizens and inform leaders of the INDI Alliance that their (INDI alliance) attempt to split Jammu and Kashmir from India would fail and that Article 370 will not be restored (in Jammu & Kashmir),” Smriti Irani stated.

In the midst of chaos, the Jammu and Kashmir assembly on Wednesday passed a resolution calling for the reinstatement of the region’s special status. Members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ripped copies of the resolution, invaded the House, and yelled anti-speaker shouts.
The motion was proposed by J&K deputy chief minister and National Conference (NC) leader Surinder Choudhary, who urged the “Government of India to commence engagement with elected representatives” in order to restore the region’s special status, which was revoked in 2019.
“I would want to ask all of the leaders of the Congress, National, and INDI Alliance: Will the Congress and the INDI Alliance oppose the rights accorded to the tribal community in Jammu and Kashmir once Article 370 is repealed?…Smriti Irani told reporters, “Today’s resolution demonstrates the Congress and the India Alliance leaders’ tactical support for terrorism and extremism.
In Jammu and Kashmir, the INDI Alliance made an attempt yesterday to stifle the Indian Constitution. Scenes from Jammu and Kashmir, where the Indian Constitution was ripped apart, demonstrate a bold disrespect for women’s rights, Dalits’ rights, and tribal populations’ rights. A watchful India will not put up with the actions of the Congress-led Indian Alliance,” the BJP leader continued. Despite running in the elections alongside the National Conference, the Congress is not a member of the administration of Jammu and Kashmir.
In the J&K assembly on Thursday, BJP lawmakers persisted in their protests against the decision, and Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather ordered the arrest of three party MLAs.
