Kupwara, 15 March – The Kupwara District Administration has decided to close all schools in several areas because of ongoing heavy rain and snowfall. Schools in Machil, Keran, Budnambal, Kumkadi, Jumagund, and the upper parts of Karnah will remain closed until March 17, 2025.
This decision was made to keep students safe, as the continuous rain and snow have made roads difficult to travel on and increased the risk of avalanches and landslides in some areas. Local officials are urging residents, especially those living in hilly regions, to avoid unnecessary travel and to follow safety advice from authorities.
The administration has also instructed relevant departments to stay alert and be ready to handle any emergencies that may occur due to the bad weather.
Residents are encouraged to stay updated through local news and to take precautions to ensure their safety. The Kupwara District Administration is closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates as needed.
For more information on the weather and safety tips, please keep an eye on local news sources and official announcements.
