Handwara, 15 Feb – The police in Handwara have launched a strong operation to stop the spread of banned books linked to the Jamaat-e-Islami group. This operation was carried out carefully and followed legal guidelines.
Police teams checked several bookshops in areas like Kralgund, Villgam, Qalamabad, and Handwara town. During these checks, they found and seized many copies of books that are not allowed. The police believe these books could disturb public peace.
Bookshop owners were warned not to sell or keep these banned books. They were informed about the serious legal consequences they could face if they continued to sell such materials.
A police spokesperson said that the department is dedicated to keeping the community safe and peaceful. “We ask everyone to stay alert and help the police by reporting any suspicious activities related to banned books,” the spokesperson said. People are encouraged to contact their local police station if they see any illegal book sales.
