Srinagar, Nov 19, : Senior leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Waheed-ur-Rehman Para criticized the leadership of the National Conference (NC), especially Omar Abdullah, for not adequately addressing the urgent political and constitutional challenges that Jammu and Kashmir is facing. After a PDP meeting led by party president Mehbooba Mufti, Para expressed concerns about the NC’s inconsistent positions on vital matters such as Article 370 and the region’s unique status under Article 35A.
Para pointed out that although Omar Abdullah often speaks about statehood, the NC’s inaction regarding Article 370 is a significant problem. He accused NC leaders of not advocating for real solutions, even though they possess a considerable mandate. “Superficial photo opportunities and regular trips to Delhi will not resolve the genuine issues confronting the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” Para stated.
The PDP meeting was held following the first assembly session in six years and focused on the political vacuum in the region, raising concerns over the future of Jammu and Kashmir and the government’s unclear stance on matters related to Article 370, special status, and demographic challenges.
