On Tuesday, the Traders Federation in Pattan held a protest against the long and frequent power cuts in their area. The protest blocked traffic on the Srinagar-Baramulla highway, causing problems for travelers.
Nasir Bashir, the president of the traders federation, said that even though Pattan is supposed to have regular electricity because it is a metered area, they only get power for a few hours each day.
He mentioned that they have complained to the officials many times, but nothing has changed.
Another protester said they only receive 2-3 hours of electricity daily, calling it harassment. He urged the government to fix this issue immediately.
Tehsildar Haroon Rashid came to the protest to calm the crowd. He promised to talk to higher authorities about the problem and work on getting the electricity supply back to normal.
