Srinagar, 07 April: The Jammu and Kashmir government has announced that more than 800,000 beneficiaries across the Union Territory are currently receiving monthly financial assistance through various welfare schemes. This information was shared in the Legislative Assembly on Monday, following a query from MLA Irfan Hafiz Lone.
According to the minister in charge, the distribution of financial aid is well-structured, with approximately 450,797 beneficiaries in the Kashmir Division and 361,182 in the Jammu Division benefiting from the Integrated Social Security Scheme (ISSS) and the National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP). The minister emphasized that pension disbursements are being carried out regularly and in accordance with the established guidelines of these schemes.
In detail, the Kashmir Division has seen a significant number of eligible beneficiaries receiving monthly financial aid, which includes 64,881 individuals under the NSAP. Meanwhile, the Jammu Division continues to support its residents with similar assistance, ensuring that those in need are not left behind.
Addressing concerns regarding delays in disbursement, the minister acknowledged that while pension payments are being processed on time, there have been instances of delays in marriage assistance funds. He clarified that such delays occur only when departmental funds are unavailable, particularly for applicants who have submitted their requests at least one month prior to their wedding date.
The government’s commitment to providing financial support to its citizens is evident, as it strives to enhance the welfare of the community through these essential programs. The ongoing efforts to streamline the disbursement process reflect the administration’s dedication to improving the lives of the people in Jammu and Kashmir.
As the government continues to monitor and improve these welfare schemes, it remains focused on ensuring that all eligible beneficiaries receive the assistance they need in a timely manner.
