The Jammu and Kashmir Police announced on Saturday that the Cyber Cell in Kulgam, South Kashmir, has successfully addressed numerous reports of missing or stolen mobile phones this year. Responding to these concerns, a dedicated team from the Cyber Cell Kulgam, led by DySP Hqrs Kulgam, managed to recover 30 smartphones from various locations. These devices, which had either been lost or stolen, were returned to their rightful owners after completing the necessary legal procedures.
In addition to recovering phones, the Cyber Cell Kulgam has also made significant progress in tackling online financial fraud. They have recovered a total of Rs 11,09,565, which has been refunded to the victims’ accounts following legal formalities. Furthermore, an additional Rs 21,88,715 has been frozen in response to ongoing complaints.
The Cyber Cell of Kulgam Police advises the public to be vigilant when using mobile phones and electronic devices to safeguard against cyber fraud and crimes. They encourage anyone who falls victim to such incidents to promptly file a complaint through the online portal cybercrime.gov.in and report the issue to the Cyber Cell Kulgam.
Additionally, the public is urged to take precautions to protect themselves from cyber fraud. This includes limiting the sharing of personal information on social media and avoiding the disclosure of sensitive details like Aadhaar, PAN card numbers, or any finance-related OTPs to others.
