Jammu, Dec 12: Manoj Sinha, the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, stated on Thursday that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the region is advancing towards equality, opportunity, and social justice.
He remarked, “Recent changes driven by PM Modi highlight inclusive development, reducing biases, and fostering hope and stability among the populace.
Whether in rural areas or urban settings, there is a noticeable reduction in the disparity between essential services and the aspirations of citizens. In recent years, grassroots democracy has strengthened, and the ideals of democracy along with constitutional values have become central to our shared consciousness,” while addressing a commemorative event for General Zorawar Singh.
Sinha emphasized that both in towns and villages, the improvement in basic amenities to meet citizens’ expectations is apparent. He also touched on efforts to support marginalized communities, including those displaced from Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Western Pakistan.
He acknowledged that the sacrifices made by figures like General Zorawar Singh were focused on fostering harmony, peace, and prosperity within society.
His vision remains aligned with the current initiatives aimed at eliminating long-standing discrimination and integrating marginalized groups into mainstream society.
He described General Zorawar Singh’s life as a “beacon of inspiration” for future generations, stating that his legacy exemplifies how challenges in service to the nation can be faced with courage and determination, preserving the essence of our civilization.
Sinha noted that the pace of project completions in Jammu and Kashmir has significantly accelerated, underscoring their commitment to public welfare as a sacred duty.
He expressed his gratitude to the General Zorawar Singh Memorial Educational and Charitable Trust for their role in honoring the legacy of the great warrior.
He conveyed heartfelt appreciation to the Trust’s officials for their dedication to promoting General Zorawar Singh’s contributions across various segments of society, reflecting India’s pride and confidence.
Sinha stressed the importance of remembering influential figures and drawing inspiration from their lives, warning that a society that forgets its great personalities risks losing its historical identity. “Their remembrance unites thousands on the path of equitable development, motivating them to serve the underprivileged,” he stated.
He regarded General Zorawar Singh as a “symbol of national unity” and an icon of “courage” and “resolve.” The LG further highlighted Singh’s significant role under Maharaja Gulab Singh in expanding the Dogra Empire and contributing practically to the vision of a unified India.
His military campaigns in Ladakh and Baltistan exemplified strategic planning and unwavering determination. Lastly, Sinha underscored the broader initiatives undertaken under PM Modi to honor and revive the legacies of esteemed figures like General Zorawar Singh, stating, “The past decade has focused on transforming the ideals of these great figures into a source of strength for the nation, revitalizing their legacies to energize New India.
