The central government has approved ₹827.98 crore to build and upgrade a 4-lane highway from Pandach to Manigam, near Wayil Bridge. This was announced by Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari.
This 12.11-km highway is part of the Srinagar Ring Road (Phase-IIA) project. It aims to make travel easier for tourists and defense vehicles going to Leh and Kargil.
Gadkari shared on social media platform X that the project will include one major bridge, three minor bridges, three road realignments, 51 box culverts, and a 2.55 km elevated section through Ganderbal town.
He mentioned that this highway will greatly improve connectivity for tourists and defense vehicles heading to Leh and Kargil. The project will also help with regional security, boost tourism, and make travel more efficient overall.
