At this year’s Golden Globes, the films “The Brutalist” and “Emilia Perez” were the big winners. Awards were given to a wide range of international movies.
“The Brutalist” won best drama film, making it a strong contender for the Oscars. Adrien Brody, who plays a Holocaust survivor in the movie, won best actor. The film’s director, Brady Corbet, also received an award.
“Emilia Perez,” directed by Jacques Audiard, won four awards, including best comedy or musical film. The story is about a drug lord who becomes a woman. It also won best non-English language film and best original song. Zoe Saldana was named best supporting actress.

Jean Smart won her second award for best lead actress in a comedy series for “Hacks.” Other TV winners included Jeremy Allen White for “The Bear,” Jodie Foster for “True Detective,” and Colin Farrell for “The Penguin.”
The Golden Globes are decided by 334 entertainment journalists from 85 countries. Recently, the voting group has been expanded and improved to address past issues with ethics and diversity.
