Shopian 8 April: On Monday, fourteen medical shops in Shopian district were sealed during an inspection to check for violations of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act. This action was taken following orders from the Deputy Commissioner of Shopian, according to a statement from the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR).
The inspection was carried out by Drugs Control Officers working with Tehsildars. They visited several villages in the Hermain and Keller tehsils, including Pehlipora, Kellar, Mastpora, Mashwara, Wanpura, Batmurran, Narpora, Hermain, Alamgunj, Kumdalan, Nagisharan, Hajipora, Nildora, Kharwara, and D.K. Pora.
The shops were sealed because they did not follow important rules. They failed to install computerized billing systems, did not keep proper records of certain medications, and broke license conditions even after being warned multiple times. Officials also checked CCTV footage from the shops as part of the inspection.
The district administration has announced that inspections will continue and has warned all medical shops to follow the rules set by the Drugs and Cosmetics Act. This effort aims to protect public health and ensure that all medical shops operate legally.
Residents are encouraged to report any problems they see in local medical shops to help keep the community safe and healthy.
