The Transport Commissioner of Jammu and Kashmir, Vishesh Paul Mahajan, has announced that the fare for e-rickshaws will be Rs. 10 for each person per kilometer. This rule is meant to help manage e-rickshaw services in the area.
In a news conference, Mahajan explained that e-rickshaws can only run on certain routes and cannot go beyond six kilometers. He warned that anyone who breaks these rules will face strict legal action.
Mahajan also said that petrol autos must have working meters. If an auto is found running without a meter, the police will take serious action. The rates for auto fares have already been set by the Regional Transport Office (RTO).
He encouraged passengers to help by reporting any problems with the fares. If they see any violations, they should tell the RTO, and those who break the rules will be punished.
Additionally, Mahajan talked about the issue of delayed licenses, saying that about 200,000 licenses are still waiting because of printing problems. He assured everyone that the process to fix this is almost done, and they hope to clear the delays by the end of the month. Once everything is sorted, licenses will be sent by post as before, and the process will be made easier.
