GHAZIPUR, Nov 19: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha declared today that any discussions regarding the restoration of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir are “irrelevant,” following the Supreme Court’s ruling that upheld its abrogation as constitutional.
In a statement regarding the situation post-abrogation, Sinha remarked, “The peaceful conduct of Assembly elections in J&K, as witnessed by both national and international observers, is a significant development. A democratic government has been established, and I am optimistic about its commitment to the region’s overall growth.”
Sinha further emphasized the Supreme Court’s endorsement of the abrogation, stating, “The constitutional backing of this decision renders any talk of restoring the provision meaningless.”

Dr. Viveki Rai’s writings, according to Sinha, reflected the aspirations of rural India and the struggles faced by the common man and marginalized communities. On this occasion, he urged attendees to adopt five pledges aimed at achieving future goals as a way of honoring Dr. Rai’s legacy.
“Our first resolution should be to preserve and strengthen our connections to time-honored civilizational values, ensuring that the treasures of art and literature are handed down to the younger generation,” Sinha suggested.
He emphasized the importance of society’s intellectuals taking on greater responsibilities to address forthcoming challenges. “Our vision must be collective, with a focus on fostering a nation that offers equal opportunities through a unified effort and shared awareness,” he added.
Sinha concluded his remarks by stating that the fifth goal should focus on enhancing opportunities for teachers and writers in rural India, enabling them to upgrade their knowledge and skills in an increasingly interconnected global economy and rapidly advancing technological environment.
In addition, Sinha inaugurated the Officers’ Rest House and Community Centre at Ghazipur City Railway Station, a project executed by Rail Vikas Nigam Limited.
