On Saturday, the Mumbai Police received a WhatsApp threat against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, sent to the traffic police helpline. The message mentioned two ISI agents and a plan for a bomb blast targeting Modi. This incident follows a recent anonymous call threatening the Prime Minister’s life.
The source of the message has been traced to Ajmer in Rajasthan, and authorities are working to apprehend the individual responsible. Investigators believe the sender may be mentally unstable or under the influence of alcohol. A First Information Report has been filed according to the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Additionally, the police received a similar threat the previous week from a caller in Mumbai, leading to the detention of a 34-year-old woman who allegedly made the threat out of frustration with the administration. Reports indicate that she referenced a plot to assassinate Modi and claimed a weapon was ready for the attack. The Mumbai Police has dealt with several hoax threats in the past, including two this week directed at actor Salman Khan.
One warning stated, “If Salman Khan wants to remain safe, he should visit a Bishnoi temple in Rajasthan to apologize or pay ₹5 crore. If he fails to do so, we will kill him. The Bishnoi gang is still operational.” On Wednesday, a man was taken into custody after he threatened Salman Khan’s bodyguard on the set of the actor’s new film, identifying himself with jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. However, initial investigations suggested that the man and the bodyguard were acquainted and had a personal dispute.
