Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has talked about the importance of fairness for employees who were fired because of suspected links to terrorism. He told reporters that everyone should have a chance to explain their side, as the law says that people are innocent until they are proven guilty.
His comments come after 3 government employees in Jammu and Kashmir were dismissed due to suspected connections to terrorist activities. Abdullah said that if there is real evidence against these employees, they should be allowed to explain their side. He added that if they cannot prove their innocence after being given a chance, then the dismissals would be acceptable.
Abdullah highlighted the importance of a fair hearing, saying that decisions made without letting people speak could harm the justice system.
He also talked about the Waqf Amendment Bill, calling it anti-Muslim and expressing his disagreement with it. He stated that there is no good reason for the bill, which has raised concerns in the community.
The Chief Minister’s statements highlight ongoing worries about fairness and justice in how sensitive issues are handled in Jammu and Kashmir.
