Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah congratulated the senior men’s cricket team after they won against the defending champions, Mumbai, in a Ranji Trophy match on Saturday. The J&K team won by five wickets, marking the second time they have defeated the 42-time champions on their home ground.
The victory was made possible by the excellent performance of J&K’s fast bowlers, Umar Nazir Mir, Auqib Nabi, and Yudhvir Singh, who took a total of 19 wickets from the Mumbai team. This strong bowling performance helped J&K chase down the target of 205 runs with ease.
In a message on his official social media account, Chief Minister Abdullah praised the team, saying, “What a brilliant achievement by the J&K Ranji Trophy team. To defeat the defending champions, and that too in their own backyard, is a memorable achievement. I send my congratulations to the players, the management, and support staff. We are all very proud of you.”
