Cameron Bancroft and Daniel Sams collided while trying to catch a ball during a BBL match between Perth Scorchers and Sydney Thunder at Optus Stadium. The game stopped for a long time because of the accident.
Both players got concussions and were taken to the hospital for more checks. Ollie Davies and Hugh Weibgen replaced them in the Thunder team.
The collision happened in the 16th over when Cooper Connolly hit the ball high on the leg side. Sams ran from the infield, and Bancroft ran from the outfield. They crashed into each other and hit their heads.
Thunder players quickly called for medical help, which arrived right away. Sams seemed to be knocked out and was taken off the field on a stretcher. Bancroft walked off with help, bleeding from his nose.
The game paused for about 20 minutes while Thunder captain David Warner and coaches talked with match officials.
