The Kerala Police’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) has arrested businessman Boby Chemmanur following a sexual harassment complaint made by Malayalam actress Honey Rose. Chemmanur was taken into custody in Wayanad and has been charged under non-bailable sections of the law.
Honey Rose, a well-known actress in the South Indian film industry, accused Chemmanur of making inappropriate sexual comments towards her. In a Facebook post, she initially spoke about being stalked and receiving offensive remarks online, without naming anyone. However, after facing harassment from several individuals who commented on her post, she decided to approach the police.
On Tuesday, Honey Rose publicly named Boby Chemmanur in another social media post, stating that she had filed a complaint against him for his continuous derogatory remarks. She expressed her confidence in the Indian legal system, despite Chemmanur’s wealth.
Boby Chemmanur is the owner of a jewelry brand in Kerala and is also known for his charitable work through the Life Vision Charitable Trust. He gained attention in 2014 for completing a marathon to promote blood donation.
In response to the allegations, Chemmanur denied any wrongdoing, claiming that he never made derogatory comments. He mentioned that Honey Rose had attended his events and seemed to enjoy herself at the time. He expressed confusion over her complaint, stating that it came months after their interactions.
