The Indian Army has confirmed that the ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir is still being followed by both India and Pakistan. This news comes after reports of a ceasefire violation by the Pakistan Army in the Poonch district.
Sources say that the Indian Army responded to this violation, which may have caused some casualties on the Pakistani side. However, the Indian Army stated that the ceasefire is still in place, even though there have been a few minor incidents of firing and a suspected bomb blast affecting Indian patrols.
“The ceasefire on the LoC is intact and continues to be observed by both armies,” the statement said. It also mentioned that small incidents can happen, but there has been no heavy fighting. The Indian Army has raised concerns with the Pakistan Army through proper channels and is keeping a close watch on the situation.
In a related matter, Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, held a security meeting in Jammu after a similar meeting in Kashmir. This follows the deaths of two soldiers—a captain and a jawan—who were killed by a bomb in the Akhnoor area on February 11. Reports say that the bomb was planted by terrorists.
During the meeting, Sinha emphasized the need for stronger security. He instructed the forces to prevent any infiltration and to have zero tolerance for terrorism. He stressed the importance of breaking down the support systems for terrorists, including taking action against terrorists and their helpers.
The Indian Army is on high alert and is focused on keeping the area safe. As tensions remain, both countries are committed to maintaining the ceasefire agreement.
