KL Rahul, a batter for the Indian cricket team, and his wife Athiya Shetty announced their first child’s impending arrival on social media. The couple, who were married in January 2023, announced the news on Instagram. A protective evil eye symbol, golden stars, and the words “Our beautiful blessing is coming soon. 2025” were all featured in the post’s design.
As part of his preparations for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Rahul is currently in Australia, playing for India A against Australia A. For the five-Test series against Australia, the batter is also a member of the Indian cricket team’s roster.
During the difficult tour of Australia, India will require a player with the ability to play traditional cricket, such as KL Rahul or Abhimanyu Easwaran. Former batter Robin Uthappa believes that veteran Cheteshwar Pujara has room in the Test team. Ahead of the five-match Test series in Australia, the Indian batting lineup, which is full of stroke players, has come under close scrutiny.

The humiliating 0–3 home loss to New Zealand has increased the pressure to perform and play excellent cricket. “We require a defensive player with the ability to play traditional, conventional Test cricket. KL Rahul and Abhimanyu Easwaran are currently the only players capable of filling that role,” Uthappa, a JioCinema & Sports18 expert, stated in a virtual media exchange.
“I do not think anyone else is capable of handling that duty. Everyone, including Shubman Gill, enjoys playing aggressively, positively, and scoring runs quickly. He may not like playing that slow role because he is a natural stroke player. You may be depriving him of his game. In 2018–19 and 2020–21, Pujara was instrumental in India’s historic victories in Australia; however, the Saurashtra veteran has lost favor, so India will be sending him this time.
“Everyone else revolves around KL Rahul and Abhimanyu Easwaran, who can truly play the role of anchor. To be honest, I still think the Test team could use someone like Pujara,” Uthappa continued.
