The Indian Army paid tribute on Tuesday to a soldier who was killed during an encounter in the Sopore area of Jammu and Kashmir. The soldier, Swr Pangala Kartheek, died in the first encounter of the year in Kashmir, which happened on Sunday evening when joint forces launched an operation in the Zaloora, Gujjarpati area. During this operation, they found a militant hideout.
A ceremony to honor the soldier was held at the Chinar Corps headquarters in Srinagar. The General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Chinar Corps, along with other officers and police officials, laid wreaths and paid their respects to Swr Pangala Kartheek.
In a message on social media, the Chinar Corps said, “GOC, Chinar Corps, Div Commissioner Kashmir Zone, IGP Kashmir Zone, JKP, along with CRPF and BSF officials paid tribute to Swr Pangala Kartheek, who made the ultimate sacrifice in Sopore, Baramulla on January 20, 2025. Chinar Warriors salute the bravery and sacrifice of this hero. We stand with his family and are committed to supporting them.”
The Army’s tribute shows the respect and honor given to those who serve and sacrifice for the country, especially in challenging situations.
