The Indian Army on Thursday reported that they fired shots at a vehicle in Baramulla district, North Kashmir, after it did not stop at a security checkpoint. The incident happened on February 5, 2025, when the Army set up a Mobile Vehicle Check Post (MVCP) due to specific intelligence about possible terrorist activity.

According to a statement from the Chinar Corps of the Army on the social media platform X, a suspicious civilian truck was seen speeding toward the checkpoint. Despite several warnings to stop, the driver continued to accelerate and tried to pass the checkpoint. In response, the troops chased the truck for over 23 kilometers before firing shots at its tires to stop it at Sangrama Chowk.
After the truck was stopped, security forces searched the vehicle. The driver, who was injured during the incident, was taken to the Government Medical College (GMC) in Baramulla, where he was later declared dead.
The truck, which was fully loaded, has been taken to the nearest police station for further investigation. Authorities are examining the vehicle and looking into the driver’s background. More information will be provided as the investigation continues.
