Amitabh Bachchan, the famous Bollywood actor, has sold his big duplex apartment in Andheri, Mumbai, for ₹83 crore. The sale was recorded on January 17, and the apartment is located in a building called The Atlantis. It covers an area of 5,185 sq ft.
Bachchan bought this apartment in April 2021 for ₹31 crore, which means its value has increased by about 168% in just under three years. For this sale, he paid a stamp duty of ₹4.98 crore and a registration fee of ₹30,000. The apartment also comes with six parking spaces.
The new owners of the apartment are Vijay Singh Thakor and Kamal Vijay Thakor. Before selling it, Amitabh Bachchan rented the apartment to actress Kriti Sanon in November 2021 for ₹10 lakh a month, along with a security deposit of ₹60 lakh.
The Bachchan family has been active in real estate, investing around ₹200 crore from 2020 to 2024. In 2024 alone, they have invested over ₹100 crore in different properties, mainly in Oshiwara and Magathane (Borivali East).
This sale shows how valuable luxury apartments are in Mumbai and highlights the Bachchan family’s ongoing interest in real estate.
