Actor Prateik Babbar is getting married to fellow actor Priya Banerjee on Friday, but the celebration is surrounded by controversy. Prateik’s half-brother, Aarya Babbar, has said that their father, veteran actor Raj Babbar, has not been invited to the wedding, raising questions about their family relationships.
In an interview with ETimes, Aarya expressed his confusion and disappointment over Prateik’s choice to leave their father out of the celebrations. He suggested that someone might be influencing Prateik’s decisions, causing a rift in the Babbar family.
“I think someone has too much influence over him. He doesn’t want to connect with anyone from this side of the family. He has decided not to invite anyone,” Aarya said, indicating that he believes someone is affecting Prateik’s choices.

Despite his disappointment, Aarya wants to support his brother and hopes that Prateik is not fully responsible for this decision. He was surprised that Prateik did not invite Raj Babbar, saying their father should have been included, even if Prateik chose not to invite Aarya’s mother and stepmother, Nadira Babbar.
“Life is like a movie; someone in the family is influencing him. I don’t want to think it’s Prateik, and I don’t believe he is like that,” Aarya added, hinting at the complicated family dynamics.
The Babbar family’s history is quite significant. Raj Babbar and the late actress Smita Patil met while filming the 1982 movie “Bheegi Palkein.” After marrying Smita in 1983, Raj faced tragedy when she died shortly after giving birth to Prateik in 1986. Later, Raj got back together with Nadira, with whom he has two children.
This wedding is Prateik’s second; he was previously married to Sanya Sagar, but they divorced in January 2023, just a year after getting married.
