According to official reports, the complainant stated that on January 30, 2023, he received a phone call. “The caller claimed to be an officer from the J&K Service Selection Board and mentioned that he could secure a government teaching job for the complainant’s daughter, requesting him to transfer money to his bank account, which the complainant did, using his hard-earned funds,” the complaint indicated.
“The accused later met with the complainant and his daughter, asserting that he was the Secretary of the J&K Service Selection Board and would facilitate her placement in the Education Department. However, he neither arranged a government position for the complainant’s daughter nor refunded the money,” he noted.
Following this, the investigation was reassigned to EOW Jammu, and during a thorough investigation, the officer in charge identified the caller as a prematurely retired IRP official, Sgct Bashir Ahmed Dar from Budgam district, who had deceived the retired JCO through impersonation and stole his hard-earned money.
“The accused was apprehended in Kashmir after multiple raids were executed at various locations throughout the Kashmir Valley, in cooperation with the local district police. The investigation has reached its conclusion, and the charges of cheating by impersonation and cheating for wrongful gain against him have been substantiated,” stated SSP Crime Jammu.
