Kulgam, 15 March: The Jammu and Kashmir Police have taken action against the illegal sale of kerosene in Kulgam district. Following a tip-off, police teams searched the villages of Arreh and Shalipora and arrested three people involved in selling kerosene on the black market.
According to a police spokesperson, the operation was led by the Station House Officer (SHO) of Police Station Kulgam, along with an Executive Magistrate. During the searches, they found 500 liters of kerosene with Tariq Ahmad Dar from Shalipora and 300 liters with Ishfaq Ahmad Wani from Arreh. Another suspect, Mohd Lateef Khan from Sungai Danmar in Srinagar, was also arrested.
The police have filed cases under FIR Nos. 12 and 21/2025 at Police Station Kulgam and are continuing their investigation to find out more about the illegal trade and any other people involved.
Initial investigations show that the arrested individuals were selling kerosene oil illegally, which is against the law and can be dangerous for the community. The police have promised to keep fighting against illegal activities to protect the public.
This operation is part of the police’s ongoing efforts to stop black market activities and ensure the safety of the community. Authorities are encouraging people to report any suspicious activities related to the sale of essential goods.
As the investigation continues, the police hope to gather more information that could lead to additional arrests and help shut down any illegal networks involved in the kerosene trade.
