Doda, Jammu and Kashmir – The Doda district administration has announced a two-month ban on the storage, use, and transportation of drones. This decision, made to prevent misuse by anti-national groups, was shared by officials on Tuesday.
According to Additional District Magistrate Sudershan Kumar, the ban applies to the general public, but police and security forces are allowed to use drones. Government departments that need drones for tasks like mapping, surveys, and agriculture must get permission before using them.
The order comes after recent incidents where drones were used to cause harm and threaten important facilities. The administration believes it is necessary to protect the airspace, especially in crowded areas and near critical sites.
People who own drones or similar devices must take them to the nearest police station within a week and get a receipt. Government departments that want to use drones must inform the local police and the relevant executive magistrate in writing and ask for approval.
While police and defense forces can still use drones, they must notify the Station House Officer (SHO) beforehand. The Senior Superintendent of Police in Doda is responsible for making sure this order is followed to keep the community safe.
This ban shows the administration’s commitment to protecting the area from potential threats while still allowing for the responsible use of drones for important work.
