The Jammu and Kashmir government has suspended two doctors after claims of medical negligence at a private hospital in Sopore. A woman who was supposed to have ent surgery reportedly had her uterus removed instead.
Following this serious incident, the operation theatre at Hakeem Sonuallah Hospital was sealed, and an investigation was started. According to an official order, Dr. Anjum Nazir, a Consultant Gynaecologist at Sub-District Hospital Sopore, and Dr. Tariq Ahmad Dar, a Medical Officer at District Hospital Bandipora, have been suspended.
Both doctors are also banned from working in any private practice across Jammu and Kashmir until further notice. The order confirmed that the operation theatre at Hakeem Sonuallah Hospital will stay closed until the investigation is finished.
