Srinagar – Dr. Farooq Abdullah, the president of the National Conference (NC), spoke out on Tuesday about the ongoing violence in Jammu and Kashmir. He questioned the claims that militancy has ended in the region, especially after a recent attack in Kulgam where a retired soldier was killed on Monday.
While talking to reporters, Abdullah pointed out the contradiction between the violence and the statements made by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He asked, “If such incidents are still happening, how can they say that militancy has ended in Jammu and Kashmir?”
Abdullah also discussed the upcoming elections in Delhi. He mentioned that while the BJP is hopeful about forming a government, similar promises were made in Jammu and Kashmir before, but the people’s votes showed a different outcome.
The former Chief Minister expressed his belief that Jammu and Kashmir would eventually get its statehood back. However, he admitted that it is hard to say when this will happen and stressed the importance of being patient and continuing to fight for the rights of the region.
