The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced its second manifesto for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, which will be held on February 5, 2025. The party promises to provide free education from kindergarten to postgraduate level for needy students in government schools if they win the election.
At the launch of the BJP’s ‘Sankalp Patra,’ BJP MP Anurag Thakur said the party will give ₹15,000 to young people preparing for competitive exams. They will also cover travel and application fees for these exams.
Last week, the BJP released the first part of its manifesto, focusing on helping women. They promised ₹2,500 a month for women, ₹21,000 for every pregnant woman, and LPG cylinders for ₹500. They also plan to increase the pension for senior citizens.
BJP President JP Nadda said that their manifesto is meant to provide a strong alternative to the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) welfare programs. He assured voters that all current public welfare schemes will continue and be improved to reduce corruption.
Nadda also mentioned that if the BJP is elected, they will start the ‘Ayushman Bharat’ health scheme in Delhi during their first Cabinet meeting, which will provide an extra health cover of ₹5 lakh. The party’s plans for women include the ‘Mahila Samridhi Yojana,’ which offers ₹2,500 a month, more than AAP’s promise of ₹2,100. Pregnant women would receive ₹21,000 and six nutrition kits under the ‘Chief Minister Matritva Suraksha Yojana.’
Additionally, the BJP plans to sell LPG cylinders for ₹500 to low-income families, with one free cylinder during the festivals of Holi and Diwali. They also want to increase the pension for senior citizens aged 60 to 70 from ₹2,000 to ₹2,500, and for those over 70, from ₹2,500 to ₹3,000.
Voting for all 70 assembly seats in Delhi will take place on February 5, and the counting of votes will happen on February 8. This election is expected to be a tough competition, with the BJP and Congress trying to stop the AAP from winning a third time. The AAP has not yet released its official manifesto but has already suggested some new benefits, adding to its existing programs like better government schools, mohalla clinics, and free electricity for residents.
