In Montenegro, a man named Aleksandar Martinovic shot and killed at least 10 people in the town of Cetinje. After police surrounded him, he tried to take his own life and died on the way to the hospital, according to the interior minister.
Martinovic started shooting on Wednesday afternoon at a restaurant, killing four people. He then went to three other places and killed six more, including two children. Four people were badly injured. Police said he had illegal weapons and was drinking a lot before the shooting. They don’t think it was linked to organized crime.
Mass shootings don’t happen often in Montenegro, but many people own guns. In 2022, another shooting in Cetinje killed 11 people. This new incident shocked the country. The Prime Minister called it a “terrible tragedy” and announced three days of mourning. The President said he was very upset by what happened.
Even though there are strict gun laws, many weapons are still around from past wars. The Prime Minister said they might make gun rules stricter or even ban guns completely.
