On Monday, Member of Parliament Aga Ruhullah Mehdi announced that the chief minister has promised to resolve the Reservation Policy issue within six months. After meeting with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and a group of students, Ruhullah said he wanted the government to hear their concerns and have a productive discussion.
Ruhullah expressed gratitude for the chief minister’s commitment to a timeline, stating, “The cabinet sub-committee will make a decision within this period. It might not take the full six months; it could be resolved in two months.”
He acknowledged that setting a timeline is a positive step but noted some challenges because the Rules of Business have not been established yet.
Earlier, a large protest was held by a student association outside the chief minister’s residence, demanding a fair reservation policy in Jammu and Kashmir. The protest included NC MP Aga Ruhullah, PDP leaders like Waheed ur Rehman Parra, Iltija Mufti, and others.
During the protest, a six-member student delegation, along with MP Aga Ruhullah, met with the chief minister to present their demands.
