Kuwait City: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Kuwait for a two-day visit on Saturday. In the afternoon, he met with Abdullah Al-Baroun and Abdul Lateef Al-Nesef, who have worked on the Arabic translations of the Ramayana and the Mahabharata.
The Prime Minister shared images from his meeting with them and signed both books. “I am pleased to see the Arabic versions of the Ramayana and Mahabharata. I commend Abdullah Al-Baroun and Abdul Lateef Al-Nesef for their dedication to translating and publishing these works.
Their endeavor demonstrates the global appreciation of Indian culture,” PM Modi stated in a post on X. Al-Nesef expressed his joy at meeting the Indian Prime Minister, saying, “I am very happy; it’s an honor for me. Mr. Modi is quite pleased with this.
These books hold great significance. He signed both of them,” he told ANI. It’s noteworthy that Al-Nesef and Baroun have translated over 30 books and epics into Arabic, as reported by News18. The translation of these two epics took approximately two years, with Baroun handling the translation and Al-Nesef managing the publication.
Modi’s visit to Kuwait comes at the invitation of Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and marks the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the Gulf nation in 43 years. During his time there, Modi plans to hold discussions with Kuwait’s leadership and engage with the Indian community. In his remarks before departing, he mentioned that discussions with top Kuwaiti leaders would help outline a roadmap for a forward-looking partnership between India and Kuwait.
“We place great importance on our historical ties with Kuwait, which have been cultivated over generations. We are not only strong partners in trade and energy but also share common interests related to peace, security, stability, and prosperity in the West Asia region,” he said.
Modi expressed his anticipation for meetings with the Emir, Crown Prince, and Prime Minister of Kuwait.
