In the ongoing controversy surrounding BR Ambedkar, Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge criticized Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday, claiming he was “bitten by a rabid dog.”
Kharge, who oversees Information Technology and Biotechnology, stated, “I may not earn a place in Heaven by chanting God’s name for seven lives, but by invoking Ambedkar’s name in this life, we can achieve political, social, and economic equality, along with a life of dignity.”
He pointed out that Shah seems to lack the concepts of Ambedkar and equality in his ideology. He added that as the philosophies of Ambedkar and Basava gain traction, the RSS ideology will weaken. Kharge also accused Shah of making inappropriate remarks.
Shah had previously claimed that Congress was misrepresenting his comments about Ambedkar during a Rajya Sabha debate, labeling the party as “anti-Ambedkar and anti-reservation.”
He suggested that the Congress party was using tactics of distortion and misrepresentation. During the debate, Shah mentioned, “There’s a trend now—Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar. If the name of God was invoked as often, one could attain heaven for seven lifetimes.”
