Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Satish Sharma, officially opened the 37th Sub Junior National Softball Championship at MA Stadium in Jammu today.
This championship has gathered 38 teams from 24 states, with over 1,000 players and officials taking part. The event is organized by the J&K Softball Association along with the J&K Sports Council and the Softball Association of India.
The opening ceremony was lively, featuring Dogri Sangeet performances, sports demonstrations, and a grand march past by the teams.
During his speech, the Minister expressed pride in J&K hosting such a large national event. He congratulated the athletes and officials and emphasized the government’s commitment to making J&K a center for sports excellence. “We are dedicated to providing young athletes with top-notch facilities and opportunities to showcase their talent,” he said.
He also highlighted J&K’s growing reputation as a host for multiple national championships this year and promised the best facilities for participants. “The youth of J&K have immense talent, and their success in national competitions shows their potential. We aim to offer more chances for them to excel,” he added.
The championship will run until December 24, promising exciting competition and camaraderie among young athletes from all over the country.
The opening ceremony was attended by Rajinder Singh Tara, Director General of Youth Services and Sports; Nuzhat Gul, Secretary of J&K Sports Council; Rajeev Sharma, Member of J&K Sports Council; and several dignitaries and guests from participating states.
