The District Drug Disposal Committee, led by SSP Sopore Smt. Divya D-IPS, destroyed drugs worth over Rs. 1 crore. This was done following an order from the Special Court (NDPS) in Baramulla.
The drugs were seized in 21 cases from different police stations in Sopore. They were destroyed by burning them at a special site in Lassipora Pulwama.
In total, 123.728 kilograms of poppy straw/powder, 2811 bottles of codeine phosphate, and 28316 capsules of Spasmoproxyvon were burned. All legal steps were followed according to the 2022 rules, and the court’s instructions were strictly observed.
