The famous Gondola in Gulmarg has seen a huge number of tourists in the past two months, with 1,48,357 visitors recorded in November and December so far.
According to data, this popular attraction in Jammu and Kashmir earned Rs 11,86,85,600 during this time. In November alone, 93,921 tourists visited the Gondola, while December, with its fresh snowfall, attracted 54,436 visitors.
The Gulmarg Gondola, run by the Jammu and Kashmir Cable Car Corporation (JKCCC), is Asia’s highest and longest cable car project. It offers stunning views of the snow-covered Pir Panjal mountain range. The first phase connects Gulmarg to Kongdoori at 8,530 feet, and the second phase takes visitors to Apharwat Peak at 13,780 feet above sea level.
Syed Qamar Sajjad, Managing Director of J&K Cable Car Corporation, said they have increased the ticket quota and introduced a Tatkal facility to ensure that foreign tourists, especially those planning last minute, can use the Gondola services.
The Gondola is fully booked for the next two months, coinciding with winter games and the snowfall season, which attracts many skiers.
Sajjad mentioned that they are ready to enhance ticketing facilities while ensuring tourist safety. By the end of the season, they expect a 10-12% increase in visitors. Their revenue target is Rs 100 crore, with net taxation projected at Rs 60 crore.
Additionally, they are focusing on maintaining and improving existing assets to make them more attractive and ensuring easy access to tickets for tourists. Their goal is to enhance the overall experience for every visitor.
To meet the growing demand for Gulmarg Gondola tickets, the JKCCC recently launched an online Tatkal Ticket Facility for the project, along with seamless support for foreign tourists.
