Ambuja Cements Limited has made a notable advancement in its decarbonization efforts by collaborating with Finland’s Coolbrook to incorporate zero-carbon heating technology into its cement production process. This partnership was announced on December 2nd, 2024. At 10:25 a.m. today, Ambuja Cements Limited shares were trading at ₹535.45, having risen by ₹3.95 or 0.74 percent on the NSE.
The collaboration focuses on Coolbrook’s unique RotoDynamic Heater (RDH) technology, which harnesses mechanical energy and renewable electricity to produce high temperatures in cement kilns. This innovation aims to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and lower carbon emissions in cement manufacturing. Ajay Kapur, CEO of Cement Business at Adani Group, mentioned that this partnership aligns with their Net Zero objectives.
The technology is expected to support Ambuja Cements’ sustainability initiatives, which include raising alternative fuel usage to 28 percent and achieving 60 percent green power utilization by 2028. Coolbrook’s CEO, Joonas Rauramo, pointed out that this technology has the potential to transform heavy industries via innovative electrification.
