The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is closely monitoring Mohammed Shami’s fitness as he returns to competitive cricket following a lengthy injury. Shami was excluded from India’s current tour of Australia due to his injury but has since recovered and participated in a Ranji Trophy match for Bengal.
He is also competing in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, a domestic T20 tournament. The BCCI is eager to have Shami included in India’s five-match Test series against Australia, though his selection hinges on his fitness. According to a report from Cricbuzz, a team from the BCCI’s Sports Science department, along with a national selector, is currently in Rajkot to assess the fast bowler’s condition.
Shami will only be considered for inclusion in the Test squad once he receives clearance from the Sports Science Department. In terms of performance, Shami contributed significantly to Bengal’s comfortable victory over Meghalaya with a remarkable bowling performance during their Group A match in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy on Sunday.
In other matches, Naman Dhir achieved impressive bowling figures of 5/19, helping Punjab secure a narrow seven-run victory against Hyderabad in Group A, while Jharkhand pulled off a thrilling one-wicket win against Haryana, with standout performances from Harshal Patel (2/16) and Yuzvendra Chahal (1/13).
