New Delhi: A heated exchange occurred between actor Salman Khan and fintech entrepreneur Ashneer Grover during the recent episode of Bigg Boss 18 Weekend Ka Vaar. Salman confronted the BharatPe co-founder and former managing director about his “doglapan,” which translates to ‘double standards’ and also refers to a book authored by Grover. Salman remarked, “I’ve heard you talking about me, claiming, ‘We signed him for this much, signed him for that much,’ and all your figures were inaccurate. So, what about the double standards?”
The term “doglapan” gained popularity after Grover used it on Shark Tank India in 2021.
In reaction to Khan’s comments, Grover took to LinkedIn to issue a detailed clarification of his remarks. He expressed, “I trust you enjoyed the Bigg Boss weekend ka vaar! I found it quite entertaining. I’m confident that this particular episode garnered impressive TRP/viewership. By the way, all the statements below are ACCURATE: Salman is an exceptional host & actor. Salman understands what is effective on Bigg Boss. I have consistently praised Salman for his business acumen and sense of self—never uttering anything derogatory about him. My deal figures are consistently accurate (verified by bank/auditor). I met Salman in a private meeting regarding the brand collaboration in May 2019 at JW Marriott Juhu – alongside the ad director (it’s okay if he doesn’t recall me – I wasn’t a public figure back then – he encounters numerous people). The invitation to be a guest on Bigg Boss was not ‘unnamed’ – just like the payment for it And lastly, I’ve got a picture with him now – which I didn’t have previously (with no managers in sight). Thank you, Salman Khan. Keep shining!”

What Transpired On Bigg Boss 18:
For reference, in April 2022, while speaking with students at Lovely Professional University, Grover recounted his experience of signing Salman Khan. He mentioned that Mr. Khan asked for ₹ 7.5 crore. When requested to lower his fee, Mr. Khan’s manager allegedly responded, “Sir aap bhindi khareedne aaye ho kya? Kitni maandvali karoge?” (Sir, are you here to buy vegetables? How much more will you bargain?)
Salman brought up this comment during the show, asserting that the quoted figures were incorrect.
Grover explained, “Perhaps my comments in the podcast did not come across correctly.”
Salman retorted, “However, the way you are speaking now, and the video I viewed of you, this wasn’t your demeanor back then.”
Tensions escalated when Mr. Khan stated that he didn’t know of Grover’s name until it was announced. “I just learned that you would be coming here. I didn’t even know your name. Since I had seen your video, I recognized your face. I think you should be cautious about how you portray yourself,” Mr. Khan added. Previously, Mr. Grover had also criticized Mr. Khan’s “heropanti” after the actor’s manager instructed him not to take a photo with Mr. Khan, citing the actor’s discomfort.
However, during this episode, Mr. Grover “finally” managed to get a picture taken.
